Advocacy

 

Frequently we have clients who need extra support when dealing with WINZ, or with consumer problems, finance companies and sometimes doctors when going for a sickness or invalids benefit.

A volunteer will look at the problem, ensure that the client has all the necessary paperwork and go with the client to their appointment.

There is an advocacy agreement for clients to sign which can be viewed below.

  ADVOCACY AGREEMENT

behalf as my advocate.

The advocate will endeavour to assist the client to the best of their ability.

The client must not withhold any important documentation and relevant information.

I do not hold ………………………………. or Kaitaia People’s Centre responsible

if a satisfactory conclusion is not reached. I acknowledge that the Kaitaia People’s

Centre and its volunteers do not hold themselves out to be experts in relation to any

advice given to me. In particular I acknowledge that I have been advised by the

Kaitaia People’s Centre that specific professional advice should be sought in relation

to my problem.
